1. flybosna.com & flybosna.com eXpress - the airline description

-1.1 flybosna.com & flybosna.com eXpress - the idea
flybosna.com and it’s regional & domestic daughter flybosna.com eXpress are totally fictive and virtual airlines with the main hub at Sarajevo International Airport (LQSA/SJJ) and an maintrance facility at Tuzla International Airport (LQTZ/TZL), Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The idea of creating a new air carrier of Bosnia and Herzegovina was brought out by myself in summer 2003 during an (fly)snowflake(.com) flight from Sarajevo back to Copenhagen. During the enjoyable flight onboard the SAS Boeing 737-883 with the nice hot sun glare from the west, seating on the comfortable business class seat, I began to think why Bosnia and Herzegovina never really succeeded in creating a national air carrier, so I could sit in their plane and have the same enjoyment. The only national carrier, Air Bosna has bankrupted for 3.rd time earlier that year. Bosnia and Herzegovina lost their representative at the airports and in the skies. The people of Bosnia and Herzegovina lost their airline. The employees lost their hardly acquired jobs. With the time, I found the answers, which were a kind of sad, but had to be understandable.
More or less in that moment, I decided of creating a new airline for the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. An airline with less political -and more human intervention. Something totally contra the already proposals, so It couldn’t go wrong. Something totally contra the very sad situation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Something happier…at least in its look and prices. Of course this couldn’t be realized, at least not by me, as I at that time was a 19 year-old young man. But at least, I could realise it in the virtual world, so we flight simmers, people of Bosnia and Herzegovina and everybody else, had the opportunity of flying with happiness.

-1.2 flybosna.com & flybosna.com eXpress - the sudden team
I mentioned this sudden idea of new carrier of Bosnia and Herzegovina to my friend and working partner Irhad Durakovic, where he with the time showed interests in joining the project. In the time to come, a second of our friends, Antonio Kupreskic joined the project too.
The project was never meant to progres quickly, as I had to concentrate on the studies, and only had a little amount of spare time to concentrate on flight simulator and designing of aircrafts and sceneries. But the two guys who are younger then me had a bit more spare time and began to work with the project, sort of each for them self! Kupreskic came with some proposals, which were totally opposite mine. Durakovic was like following some “guidelines” but like Kupreskic still had his own ideas and tried to realize them. I was glad too se so young people being ambitious, but the problem was, that these ideas were totally contra mine ideas of the name, concept and the graphic design for this airline, and this wasn’t the right project for these ideas to get realized. With the time, me and Kupreskic argued on behalf of the project and some other aspects, where Kupreskic left the project. The project continued with its slow process. Durakovic came with some proposals, but I honestly didn’t like them. It’s a natural reaction, because we are different, and everybody is thinking their own way. So it was nothing wrong with the guy and his ideas, but the ideas were just not for this project. The other factor was that I was really occupied and tired of the studies and just wanted to finish it and continue with mi life. I explained my situation to Durakovic and that I must get finish with the studies before having the energy and time to continue with the project. I had a very bad feeling of doing so, because Durakovic would be left alone, and I still wanted once in the near future to realize the project. I realised that I wanted to continue the project myself, as it was intended from the beginning, onboard the snowflake flight. But the question was how to tell Durakovic about my intention, because I knew, that it would hearth him, which is totally understandable, as he in the fact was the only one working with the project. But again, it didn’t work, so something had to be done. To shorten the fairytale, me and Durakovic argued for some hours during a “meeting” & multiplayer flight on flightsim.no, where the Norwegians didn’t understood anything of the happening, as we wrote and spoke Bosnian. We agreed stop the work! That was in early spring 2004 (end January, therefore is the flybosnaDOTcom.tk homepage “dead”), where I now, autumn 2004, small 9 months later continued, as I have more spare time. But currently I don’t have internet access and can’t update the homepage.

-1.3 Concept - basis’
I continued with thinking of the airline concept, including the name, best fleet and destinations according to demand & geographical location, price concept, the layout and graphical understanding, the etc. Suddenly I had time to realize all the thoughts I had earlier, but didn’t have time to realize them because of the studies.

This is what I decided with my self:
The concept should be, as mentioned earlier, a concept which made the passengers satisfied and happy flying with flybosna.com and flybosna.com eXpress.
Therefore I decided that flybosna.com and flybosna.com eXpress should be really low-cost-airlines. Therefore the slogan: “-the only real low-cost-airline of Bosnia and Herzegovina-“.
But, as many people travelling to Bosna and Herzegovina due to the conflict are living abroad, they need a good connection from major European airports to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which meant, that flybosna.com and flybosna.com eXpress should fly to major European airport, where there is easy to connect to Middle East, Asia, Australia and United States.
This results that flybosna.com and flybosna.com eXpress as a low-cost-airline should earn enough to be able to pay for the costs and the landing fees etc., but still have low prices to maintain its image as a low-cost-airline.

-1.4 Concept - name
The name flybosna.com and flybosna.com eXpress came from the snowflake web-address flysnowflake.com, as at that time being the only company using the “fly.com”-domain. Later on several airlines changed their homepages, such as flySN.com, flyniki.com, flybaboo.com, flybe.com etc. I found the name cool and modern, which only could be one of the first steps in bringing Bosna and Herzegovina on a modern staid.

-1.5 Concept - fleet
The fleet should contain aircrafts which are not expensive as the model, and not expensive in operation costs. I decided of using Bombardier Aircrafts, where Bombardier CRJ 900 is being used by flybosna.com for the longer European -and charter routes, while Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 is used by flybosna.com eXpress for regional and domestic routes. Here are some of the arguments:

-Bombardier (Canadiair Regional Jet) CRJ 900 (none repainted yet, but there will soon come some):
--Very modern aircraft.
--Cheap in usage and maintrance, especially because the neighbour, Slovenian airline ADRIA are using
the CRJ 200 and therefore have a maintrance facility at their hub at Ljubljana International Airport.
--Excellent performance and break-even point.
--Excellent fuel efficiency.
--Excellent capacity for the demand (86 pax).

-Bombardier (DeHavilland) Dash 8-Q400 (6 x in usage & repainted, but this is too many for RL usage):
--Very modern aircraft.
--Cheap in usage and maintrance.
--Excellent performance (can perform very short approaches, which increases the possibility for
acquiring slots) and break-even point (50 %).
--Excellent fuel efficiency.
--Excellent capacity for the demand (78 pax).

-The fleet has the possibility to expand with using the new Bombardier C-series aircrafts, which will be launched in year 2010 (!) and have a better capacity (up to 130 pax)

For more information regarding Bombardier Aircrafts please visit www.bombardier.com and se the file “dhc84.pdf” by Robert Versluys.

-1.6 Concept - price structure
The price structure is a much known low-cost-airline structure:
-The prices are one-way prices excluding airport taxes and fees, meals and drinks.
-You have a minimum/starting one-way-price excluding airport taxes and fees.
-There are 18 price-quotes, where the most expensive one-way-price is 189 Euro.
-That means, that prices are 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, 79, 89, 99, 109, 119, 129, 139, 149, 159, 169, 179, 189 Euro.
-Converted to seat capacity, that means following:

Bombardier CRJ 900
Price category Number of seats on each flight
19 Euro 1
29 Euro 1
39 Euro 1
49 Euro 1
59 Euro 1
69 Euro 1
79 Euro 1
89 Euro 1
99 Euro 8
109 Euro 8
119 Euro 8
129 Euro 8
139 Euro 8
149 Euro 8
159 Euro 8
169 Euro 8
179 Euro 8
189 Euro 6
Total income pr. full flight: 11574 Euro + onboard-service income
Total number of seats: 86

Bombardier Dash 8-Q400
Price category Number of seats on each flight
19 Euro 1
29 Euro 1
39 Euro 1
49 Euro 1
59 Euro 1
69 Euro 1
79 Euro 1
89 Euro 1
99 Euro 8
109 Euro 8
119 Euro 8
129 Euro 8
139 Euro 8
149 Euro 8
159 Euro 8
169 Euro 8
179 Euro 4
189 Euro 2
Total income pr. full flight: 10002 Euro + onboard-service income
Total number of seats: 78

-This means, if the flights are half full, the income will be 4497 Euros for CRJ 900 and 3951 Euros for the Dash 8-Q400 (+onboard-service income). This is about 40 % of the maximum income, which compared with the break even pint is an acceptable result. As the planes have a small capacity, there are only few seats on the very cheap price categories. If this wasn’t the case, the airline wouldn’t have any possibility to survive over longer time.

-1.7 Concept - destinations
As mentioned earlier, is it very important for the airline to serve major European airports so the abroad passengers have the possibility for using the airline without any other transferring. Therefore the routes are following, according to known demand:
flybosna.com routes:

-1.8 Concept - visual/graphical appearance
As being a low-cost-airline, you aim not to spend big amounts of money on commercial. Therefore it’s an advantage, if you can advertise directly via your plane in form of offers or just your homepage address.
I decided to do so, and much more:

-Typography
--The typography used for the name flybosna.com and the destinations is Hättenschweiler (the same type as this document is written with).
--The typography used for the word “eXpress” of “flybosna.com eXpress” is Monotype Corsiva (bold).
--The typography used for the aircraft registration is Verdana (bold).

-The colours which are used are as follows:
--Typography:
---White
---Black
---flybosna.com Purple (special toning)
---flybosna.com Orange (special toning)
---flybosna.com Yellow (special toning)
---flybosna.com Green (special toning)

---flybosna.com Blue (special toning)

--Painted areas:

---flybosna.com Yellow (special toning)
---flybosna.com Green (special toning)
---flybosna.com Light Blue (special toning)
---flybosna.com Blue (special toning)

-The airline name is written in white letters on a label in one of the 6 mentioned colours above, like a price tab, where it should be understood as, flybosna.com is on offer, with other words flybosna.com is a good offer!
-The rear part of the fuselage, pylons (after taking the images!!!) tail and horizontal tail are painted in a particular colour with a label on it in the same of the 6 mentioned colours above on the tail. On the label is written flybosna.com in white letters.
-The destination names are written above each other in front of the rear painted fuselage part.
-There are 6 different planes in 6 different label-colours and rear-part-colours, adopted by the 6 largest towns of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The planes/registrations/towns/colour combinations are as follows:

--T9-FLB / City of Banja Luka / Grad Banja Luka:
---flybosna.com Green/flybosna.com Red (rear part of the fuselage, tail and horizontal tail / sticker)

-1.9 The model
This model works in both FS2002 and FS9. It has opening doors (Shift + E) as well as an opening cargo door (Shift + E + 2).
However, there are no textures for the inside of the plane yet, an update may come later.

2. Installation & contents
Installation of the 6 flybosna.com Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 repaints is very easy. Pleas follow these few steps and you will be ready for fly in few seconds:

-Make shore that the FS2002/FS9 is turned off!

-Unzip the folder “DHC84fbX.zip” to your main FS2002/FS9 aircraft folder
(fx: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\).

-Now you will find a folder named “DHC8 Q400 flybosna.com eXpress” inside the main aircraft folder.
If you are using FS9 and it’s installed in Program Files, the path would look like this:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\DHC8 Q400 flybosna.com eXpress).

-The contents should be as follows:
--7 x images
--Aircraft.cfg
--dhc84.air
--dhc84.pdf (Robert Versluys’ original Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 manual)
--flybosna.com manual.doc (The manual you are reading now)
--flybosna.com manualtxt.txt (Or maybe this is the manual you are reading now!)
--README!!!.txt
--File_id.diz (upload description file)
--Model
--Panel (Default lear45\panel, which can be replaced with any panel of your choice)
--Sound (Default beech_king_air_350\sound, which can be replaced with any sound of your choice)
--texture.flybosna T9-FLB Banja Luka
--texture.flybosna T9-FLI Bihac
--texture.flybosna T9-FLM Mostar
--texture.flybosna T9-FLS Sarajevo
--texture.flybosna T9-FLT Tuzla
--texture.flybosna T9-FLZ Zenica

-If you are satisfied with the default panel and sound, then just turn your FS2002/FS9 on and choose Bombardier, Dash 8 Q400 and flybosna.com eXpress, then you will have the 6 repaints ready for fly in the order mentioned in “1.8 The paints” .

-Otherwise visit some of the major addon sites for panel and sound packages.

-And never the less the freeware websites for uploading this package and other stuff to come*.

*I am working on repaints of flybosna.com Bombardier (Cnadiair Regional Jet) CRJ 900 by OpenSky and scenery package for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro!
Microsoft has only included 4 airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and therefore totally excluded some of European most interesting airfield complexes such as Bihac-Zeljava AirBase with its underground facility which had (the whole complex was blown up during the war) 3,5 kilometres of tunnels for housing of 3 squadrons (58 MIG-21 and MIG-21 Bis’) if a nuclear attack should occur.
In Montenegro airports of Berane-Dolac and Zalbljak-Durmitor are also excluded. Berane Airport is laying in a deep valley, on a little plateau above the town of Berane, While Zabljak is located at an altitude of 4685 feet’s, on the foot of the 8200 feet’s high Mount Durmitor.
Furthermore, please se the 6 big images of the different repaints, where some of the airports are included.
